Toni Catany (Llucmajor, Majorca, 1942 - Barcelona, 2013). Self-taught photographer, from very early in his career he begins to experiment with unconventional techniques. While developing his work with the calotypes, with which he is known internationally, he continues to use more conventional techniques to photograph (first in black and white and then in color) recurrent themes in his career: landscapes, still lifes and nudes. He has published reports on Israel, Libya, Egypt, or the Balearic Islands, among others, in various magazines and newspapers. His most emblematic books are "La meva Mediterrània" and "Natures Mortes". In 2001 he received the National Photography Prize and the French Ministry of Culture awarded him the title of Chevalier de L'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. His work is part of important collections and has been exhibited both nationally and internationally. Since suffering, the photographer's file is managed by the Toni Catany Foundation based in Llucmajor and Barcelona.
